382320 2005-08-20 05:22:00 Yeah that site worked thanks. The RAM in the other computers is still entirely different, so I don't think I can test those...

And I also didn't even bother plugging in the keyboard when I started it up - if it was working properly it would have detected that there was no keyboard, and it would have come up on my monitor also.

382321 2005-08-21 03:10:00 Try plugging the keyboard in. ;)

Are you getting any output at all on the monitor? Is there an on-board video controller and a plugin video card? Could there be a conflict which is stopping everything?

382322 2005-08-21 03:16:00 I just plugged the keyboard in just then and it still isn't working... :( alexc (8747)
382323 2005-08-21 03:18:00 Oh there's an onboard video controller and a plugin video card. I've tried plugging the screen into both but neither of them work. And you tell me if there might be a conflict stopping everything! :D alexc (8747)
382324 2005-08-21 03:30:00 I would definitely unplug the extra video card. And any disk drives. Why go looking for trouble? See if you can get it going with the bare minumum. Shouldn't it try even without any memory? Even if it complained about not having any memory, that would be an improvement. Graham L (2)
382325 2005-08-21 08:47:00 I know they have thermal pads on them, when u buy them. Well, of course you should put something on it, if there's nothing there, or its worn out! That wasnt the question either.I'm pretty sure that some of them have a piece of tape of the thermal pad... was it removed prior to installation? Greg (193)
382326 2005-08-21 09:01:00 I've tried unplugging everything and starting it up - no luck.

And the processor has worked on my old motherboard already, so I don't think there's tape on it.
