| 382245 | 2005-08-20 21:44:00 | I dont see why people say Networking '98 is a problem... Its nice and easy, usually requires a single reboot. Problem is that a lot of n00bs trip over permissions, static IP's, DNS etc etc. Realistically if you know what you're doing, you can get Win95 to play with Win98, WinME, Win2K and WinXP. I know because Ive done a network using at least one of the aforementioned myself at a previous place of employment. Problems? None... None at all.....! In fact, Win98 <-> Win98 networking I find easier (Win98 SE is best, means you can use ICS) than WinXP when teaching n00bs, because of the fact you dont have to worry so much about User Permissions etc. Just share it and make the share RW and you're sorted (By and large) ;) With WinXP you have to factor in permissions etc which if you read through my post history for all networking related posts, you'll see a lot of people manage to trip on. |
