382797 2005-08-21 08:23:00 Hi, playback of video on my PC has developed a problem.

Playing back mpeg2 or DV .avi files, and XVid .avi file (and most likely others - haven't tried) the picture is like the contrast/brightness has been turned up extra high.

The weird thing is that when I am logged in as administrator the playback is perfect. But when I switched to my limited user account the playback is bad as described.

I couldn't work out what was wrong, but I did discover that if I created a new limited user account, that the palyback when logged in as the new user was also good. So I decided to shift my settings and files to the neww limited user account and deleted the old one - seemed fine. But now I have just installed some software (Nero) and the playback for that user is now bad again, it is still fine when logged in as Adminstrator.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

382798 2005-08-21 08:54:00 Whats the videocard? And what are the drivers??

Nvidia? ATI?

If they're Nvidia drivers, what version of the drivers are installed?

If you're using 77 . 72 of the Nvidia drivers, thats your prob .

What u said is what the 77 . 72 drivers did .

Update the Nvidia drivers to 77 . 77 .

382800 2005-08-22 09:28:00 Sorry, I should have said, I've tried a couple of apps to play the files and same result (Media Player 9 and Nero Showtime).

Video Card is Leadtek MyVivo A170 GeForce 440 MX, which is NVidia. I have tinkered a bit and I suspect you are right - its the drivers. I will update and see if that fixes the problem.

Thanks
