382402 2005-08-20 03:48:00 Alright pressf1 helpers, why does double click always come up on pcworld front page.

It takes three Go key strikes to get past the Done screen.

Thanks to Spybot it gets the short shift.

Thanks,

Lurking

382403 2005-08-20 03:57:00 AFAIK doubleclick is part of this site. It does tracking I think. Don't really know what you mean by "come up" unless you mean it appears in the status bar while it's loading. HTH.......m.....or maybe ads :D mark c (247)
382404 2005-08-20 03:59:00 doubleclick supplies the advertisements which cover some of the cost of running the site. Graham L (2)
382405 2005-08-20 04:04:00 Thanks Graham and Mark, nice to know this. But why do I have to hit Go on the Address line 3 times to get to the PCWorld home page" that's the pressf1 and chat screen.

Thanks again,

Lurking.

Ps. perhaps I should change my nom-de-plume.

382406 2005-08-20 04:14:00 Don't really know what you mean. Pressf1 has a sort of 'parent' site where the two forums are listed and you can then choose to go one or other. I avoid it by having presff1 as the home page and pressf1 chat in bookmarks, is this what you're getting at? mark c (247)
382407 2005-08-20 04:15:00 I suspect that this might be caused by your browser settings, or the way you are giving it "short shrift". It's not the forum. ;) Graham L (2)
382408 2005-08-20 04:59:00 Graham, perhaps it's the lack of "Posts", mind you "lurking" is new code name, couldn't get in with the old title.

Regards,

Lurking

Ps Browser settings, never touch them! do I need to?.

Thanks,

lurking

382409 2005-08-20 06:12:00 Nothing to do with post numbers.

If it's irritating you you can block doubleclick in your hosts file.

382410 2005-08-20 09:02:00 or you can use Firefox with the Adblock Add-on. I can give you a copy of the Sites I block, 240 lines worth. bob_doe_nz (92)
