382379 2005-08-20 03:45:00 Deciding to watch a dvd on my tv the other day i plugged in all the needed cables, breakout box from back of 6600GT, svideo to rca adaptor and rca to tv. But when I change the display to TV, it only shows black and white, if I only have the tv plugged in so that the boot screens etc come up on the tv, it is in colour, once it boots into windows is when it goes into black and white.

I have tried all the different pal/ntsc settings on the drivers, also installed older nvidia drivers, and currently running DNA nvidia drivers to see if it made a difference, none at all.

I tried it with my friends AGP 6600GT (mines PCIE) and it does exactly the same thing so this makes me pretty sure that its the drivers, not hardware etc.

The nvidia site has a knowledge base/faq thing that has my problem on it, but after trying what they suggested there was no change at all.

I currently run dual monitors, and both these work fine, its just when I output to the tv it turns black and white.

Any help would be much appreciated.

382380 2005-08-20 03:50:00 Did u install the latest Nvidia drivers from the Nvidia site?

Right mouse / properties / settings / advanced on the desktop .

Click on the Nvidia logo / full screen video / full screen device secondary display . I use RCA to RCA here with the above settings, and its fine .

Somehow, I think most vidcards dont like the adapters (S-Video to RCA), or RCA to S-Video . Its either RCA directly to the TV or S-Video, not both connected together .

382381 2005-08-20 04:02:00 Yes, I have installed the latest, the 2nd latest, the 3rd latest, and the latest drivers from DNA ("tweaked NVIDIA driver") no change what so ever. My breakout box has S-Video, and composite on it, no just plain RCA out, so I have to use an adaptor of some sort.

Also, when i went to the settings you suggested, all I can do in that drop down box is 'auto select' or 'disable'

Another of my mates has a AGP 6600GT running even older drivers (6*.**) I think, and he uses the same adaptor and rca setup as I do and it runs fine. I am thinking of getting his drivers off him and trying the older drivers off him.

382385 2005-08-30 03:19:00 Firstly, check the rca connected to your tv on everyone of the RCA looking interconnects in the cable bunch at the back of your gfx card. If you have RGB output you should be able to plug the RCA into the blue output, (on my bundle of cables it had a little tag attached to it, saying Pb out/Comp out) and then go

*right click*
properties
settings
advanced
geforce 6600GT
nview display settings, change the dropdown box to monitor/tv
then click apply.
the tv should appear with the signal, but in black and white.
Right click on the tv in the settings and go to set tv format, then to advanced at the bottom of this menu. then in the video output section, click the dropdown box and select composite video out.

My friend worked it out himself, after I spent a week posting on forums such as this and gameplanet etc. Im sure someone else would have fixed this problem before (6600GT very popular card) but was suprised to find no one actually willing to help that much. Hope this helps, i know how annoying it was for me to only ever get black and white when I was following everyone elses instructions.

382387 2005-09-04 18:40:00 dirtbag - have the same card and problem... if i choose the composite option and there's no cable connected, tv has no signal, if i choose s-video (i'm connected thru this cable) the signal is Black and white. I think the problem is in the driver or windows system. misiaq (8749)
