383443 2005-08-24 07:47:00 Hiya everyone. I've managed to get a Windows NT Server license from my dad's work (Upgrading server to the linux treatment, license going free), and want to install it on the old computer as a sandbox system. the only problem if like all other NT based OSs I've tried ot bluescreens at the same file; atapi.sys

After talking on IRC to some experts, I've established it's the flakey BIOS, and I need an update. Problem is, where to find it? It's a TMC TI5TT motherboard. Their domain has gone to domainsponser.com (@_____@), and even though archive.org has a page or three, there isn't any for my particular motherboard. So, would anybody know of a place that has this kind of thing? For some reason I don't trust the .ru sites google gives =\...

Thanks, Edward :)

May I ask why you want to use an NT based system rather than Linux?

Can't quite undersatnd that lot but if it means the install is failing at copying atapi.sys then a faulty BIOS could only be one possibility
Dirty CD, Dirty CD Lens, Bad Memory, Bad Power Supply can also cause this problem

Try copying the setup folder to the Hard drive and re-run setup from there

383446 2005-08-24 08:57:00 It blue screens on Windows NT, 2000 and XP as well, and on 2 different Cd-ROM drives, so i'm thinking it isn't the media. Also tried replacing the RAM and network cards, no go =(

Murry: Linux (Vector, Ubuntu, Knoppix) throws a hissy fit as well

And that wim's site didn't help very much either, as the TMC's site is long gone :(

383447 2005-08-24 14:02:00 Tut tut! Haven't tried Mepis yet I see.

If it's BSODing on istallation/startup, perhaps it's choking on the folloing file rather than atapi.sys.

Have a look at item 3 at Snakefoot's (snakefoot.fateback.com), about half way down, although it's worth reading the lot.
