383322 2005-08-25 07:58:00 this (imagef1.x10hosting.com) and this (imagef1.x10hosting.com) is my slimed down version of msn 7.0, its brillaint getting rid of the bloat...
Mess patch? its good aye, but its still fairly resource hogging, even if you do patch it.

My basic feeling is an instant messaging program shouldnt lag, however the ability to send files, view webcams etc still needs to be included to be considered an IM in this day an age. Google's going to have to up the ante a bit in my opinion

383323 2005-08-25 08:03:00 my msn doesnt seem too bad, i can run games in the background with no problems at all. Gaim on the other hand is a dead simple IM and it does the job, but for some reason i like msn better, but i dont even use half the crap that comes with msn... Prescott (11)
383324 2005-08-25 08:13:00 yea maybe my computers just cr@ppy. Go the celeron!

Is there any reason why this was moved to PressF1 from PC World Chat? No-one really seems to need any help.

383326 2005-08-25 11:55:00 Yup... Its not off-topic chat, not asking for a web designer etc... it'll get better press etc ;)

Personally I think its great how fast and minimalistic it is.

I actually had a company approach me, they wanted to use my Jabber server for their PDA Jabber Client software. I politely declined, but do remember them telling me the that they wanted to use Jabber because it uses on average 1/7th the bandwidth that MSN does!?

383327 2005-08-25 12:19:00 Heres a page of little tips on using Google Talk, such as making text *bold* and _italic_ in convo. www.fluxiontech.com

It really is quite lite but the GUI is a little helpful, with docking convo windows etc. The talk functionality should come in handy with keeping in contact with my Mum in the USA. Just to get it straight, Skype does this also for free, and also has a pay per minute call-to-landline service called SkypeOut?

383330 2005-08-25 14:38:00 I dont think you need invites anymore, gmail comes as part of your Google account.
