383153 2005-08-23 06:00:00 I am wondering whether it is possible to install two different version of MS office, 2000 and 2003. If so what steps does one take. Thanks. lightfoot (39)
383154 2005-08-23 07:28:00 Are you wanting one particular program from both, or the whole suite for each? It will be probably easier if you just need the one (or two) programs rather than the entire package to prevent conflict with what opens with what.

If you do a custom install of the second Office version and make sure you specify a separate installation directory to the default Office one (you might need to make this directory first) to prevent the other version being overwritten, this *should* work.

I have Access 97 and Access 2002 (with full Office 2002) installed on the same machine at work. You just need to make sure you specify what file is to be opened by what version to maintain compatibility if there are known issues.

Maybe wait for a bit, and see if anyone else with experience doing this has further comments. :)

[Edit]
I just searched the MS knowledge base and found these articles:

How to run multiple versions of Office on one computer (support.microsoft.com) - Office 2000

Information about running multiple versions of Office with Office 2003 (support.microsoft.com). :)

383156 2005-08-25 10:46:00 i have Office 95, Office 97 and Office 2003 installed on one PC, no compatibility problems. You need to ensure that you Save each to its own Install Folder, Off95, Off97, Off2003 AND make sure the later versions dont Remove existing Versions when you install them.

Why so many, well, Speed of operation/opening and a few convenient features of the earlier versions prevent me from deleting them. My favourite - Off95.

.......they are less confusing I think....that's why I also have OpenOffice...this one's a lot friendlier to me.
