383787 2005-08-26 06:59:00 Thanks for your help everyone. Will tell my friend. Another question please. I am running a real old pc......Windows ME.......can I use any of the above programmes to clear my pc of any nasties? Are the above programmes only compatible with XP. I did a scan using spyware dr and it detected 4 serious threats but would not allow me to "fix" the problems until I registered. I have already scanned with adaware, cc cleaner, avg.......can you suggest anything else that is free? Many thanks summertime (2568)
383788 2005-08-26 06:59:00 Have a look at the FAQs here at pressf1 and go down to the one on spyware and adware and have a good read and follow the instructions, get the progams recommended and run them, and then get back here with the results and then if all goes well tell the technoperson. :D

This is what you want to do if you want to learn. (AND keep an eye on yr thread and respond/ keep in touch........ is the way to get things fixed.)

383790 2005-08-26 07:56:00 Brilliant advice. Thank you so much for that. As u can tell I am not computer savvy and quite frankly I am not that interested in learning all the ins and outs and deciphering which are the best programmes to use.......prefer instead to ask direct questions from the experts. The advice for checking out FAQ was brilliant and that certainly answers all my questions. Will look there 1st in the future summertime (2568)
