383764 2005-08-26 04:17:00 My monitor (a 19" Proview CRT) is getting awefuly dark.
I have adjusted my video card (Radeon 9800 pro) to it's best settings and my monitor is set to full bright. Contrast is also on full. These are all the best settings.

Still the monitor is too dark! It has no sparkle. An outside picture shows a clear blue sky but the landscape looks like a dark overcast day.

I'm just wondering if there is any easy was of improving it.

I'm not overly worried, My new Sony LCD should be here next week.

Cheers

383767 2005-08-26 09:38:00 I'm thinking of whoever buys it off me JJJJJ (528)
383768 2005-08-26 12:10:00 Just toss it. Cut the power lead off and a hammer through the tube.
I would have a conscience selling it to someone like that.

383770 2005-08-26 22:19:00 What is the age of the monitor? you can get the date off the back.

A lot of the heaters from monitors run off the power chopper transformer then rectified and when the electrolytics go high in ESR, the brightness goes down not sure why the manufacturers do that the standard TV uses straight of a winding from the Fly Back Transformer FBT unrectified and there is never a problem there, It could be one more thing to go wrong and make their customers buy a new monitor,
