383758 2005-08-26 03:08:00 Do you know the model of your modem?
Does you computer connect to it via USB or Ethernet?

Wht they mean by authentication is changing your logon name and password, just so you don't get confused by the terms used here.

I just cant figure out how to change those settings. went thorugh what it said to do on the D-Link website but it wont accept my new log in changes. boozehag6969 (8784)
383760 2005-08-26 03:24:00 If using XP, go start-run and enter in CMD
Then type IPCONFIG /ALL
This should give you the ip address of the gateway, which will be your modem. Then it is a case of getting into the modem set up and changing your username and password there and you should be right.I have used a "telecom" modem like yours on Slingshot and wave with no problems.
If you find the IP address of your modem, open your Internet Explorer and type in address bar the ip number. ( should be basically something like 192.168.0.10 )
It should come up with name and password dialog box, which if it has not been changed, should be in your manual.
