we have just got woosh wireless broadband in the last week YAY! :D

anyway, we have it set up one one computer with the ethernet connection and we have another computer that is 10-25 meters away from the woosh modem.

can i set it up for use on the other computer? if possible would i be able to use a wireless router and antenna card? i cant run cables thru the house so i need it to be wireless.

any help will be gratfully accepted

thanks very much

383532 2005-08-25 00:40:00 Get a Linksys WRT54GS Access point, plug both your modem and 1st computer into it.
The second computer you will need either a second access point running in client mode or a wireless NIC.

383533 2005-08-25 02:15:00 Why not just ask Whoosh for a ethernet router if they have one.. paulw (1826)
383534 2005-08-25 05:56:00 Woosh aren't likely to have one. ;) They give the choice of a USB cable or an Ethernet one (at extra cost) to one machine.

But once you have an ISP connection to one, you ought to have few problems, except any nasties of XP-Home (if applicable) ;).

383535 2005-08-25 07:35:00 I just also got into Woosh this week....the speed was ok at an average of 270Kbps(Line Speed) and 921.6Kbps(Modem speed) with a Booster Antenna. I'm really impressed with their 8 weeks free service next month. I'm glad that I chose Woosh. :)
I still dnt know if it will work on my sister's Pentium3, as I want to share it with my sister...Both pcs use xp pro sp2.

383536 2005-08-25 10:03:00 I've heard a few people reccomend the dlink router as the best of the cheap wireless routers. ascent.co.nz
If you don't need wireless, check out ascent.co.nz - you can plug a USB printer into it & it will act as a print server as well as a router & 4 port switch

383537 2005-08-25 19:59:00 I believe it will only work with a Mac :D plod (107)
383538 2005-08-26 07:47:00 hmmm. as youi can see my name i dont have a soft spot for macs, more like a dyslexia inducing pit. :waughh: anyway, you said there would be problems, wot kind of problems? MAC_H8ER (5897)
383539 2005-08-26 09:14:00 I think he is taking the piss. I have seen woosh set up to work on 2 windows computers. I would be surprised if it didn't have a web based interface for configuring the modem so that it will work on any operating system. Greven (91)
383540 2005-09-02 11:43:00 I'm having a slightly different woosh problem. I'm trying to connect a Netgear wireless router WGT624 v2 between my woosh modem and PC but they're having trouble communicating. The router can't seem to see the modem. Any ideas? ropatah (8777)
