| 384217 | 2005-08-28 06:39:00 | Just noticed now when i was surfing that the AVG email scanner was running (pop up screen showed in the bottom right) and said it was scanning pop3 at web address that wasnt anything like my usual pop3.ihug.co.nz , was more like aaanxx3.adsl.tele.dk or similar (cant remember the exact address because its stopped now). I though it only ran when you actually hit the send/receive button in outlook? Is this normal avg email scanner behaviour? Cheers Term X |

I would be concerned about malware, viruses or trojans on your computer sending out emails via their own SMTP engine (they don't use your email client SMTP engine). Have you done a thorough scan with an updated AV program? It might be worthwhile using Hijackthis to create a log to make sure you have no unwanted processes running. |

It hasnt alerted me of anything out of the ordinary or anything trying to contact the net from my pc other than the usual allowed programs. ran a virus scan and nothing showed up. the scan hasn't come up again with the same pop3 address as mentioned before. So im guessing its gone. but ill keep an eye on things. |
