| 384031 | 2005-08-27 02:16:00 | Yeah, so usually when I'm browsing around my files in explorer, I'll click on a folder and explorer plus half my OS freezes for around 40-60 seconds, and then unfreezes. Brand new computer, but I'm assuming because I got this computer prebuilt as opposed to building it myself (too much of a deal to pass up), HP loaded way too much extra crap on here which is causing this. Also tried taking "HP Boot Optimizer" off, because it doesn't look very useful. Unfortunatly, I'm still having problems. Its actually not just when I open folders in explorer, I've noticed. Things simple as closing active sync will cause it to freeze for a while. And its not consistant, its just sometimes. I checked task manager, nothing weird that I saw. I've got a 1.5 gigs of memory, so I should be ready to handle a good bit there. The only other thing it maybe is something inside the case. Like a faulty CPU fan or something, or its starting and stopping, or it has stopped. Which will make a system freeze. I would look inside the case, see if its dusty, if any fans have stopped, the heatsink on the CPU, whether its gathering dust. And give the inside a clean. Or you could try defragging in safe mode, clear the rubbish off your system with http://www.ccleaner.com |
