2005-08-28 20:25:00 | Good morning - i installed a Leadtek TV2000XP Expert, TV Tuner/Video Capture Card at the weekend. At the moment I can watch a video (and hear the sound) as it plays on my computer, but CAN'T capture the sound. I have used Nero Vision Express2 (came with my Liteon DVD reader/writer), Ulead DVD Moviefactory 3 SE (came with the capture card) & Winfast PVR (also came with card) - all the same, sound and video when watching, but video only captured. :( All my other sound functions seem normal - I can play CDs from both optical drives - any suggestion would be welcome. :help: The "other half of the household" (a electronic serviceperson - but with no interest in computers!) says it must be a software problem, not a hardware problem. Cheers R.M.

2005-08-28 20:31:00 | Have you got a 3.5mm cable which goes from the capture card's line out to your sound card's line in? At a glance this could be the problem but if you say that you can hear the sound while watching then I may be wrong. Check your audio setting in the software, there may be a setting that you have missed. cheers chiefnz

2005-08-28 20:38:00 | Yes - the lead from the capture card to the motherboard ( I don't have a separate sound card) is in place. I checked the "Capture Audio" tickbox in Winfast PVR program, and had a fiddle (under instructions from my computer expert son - by telephone) in Sounds and Audio Devices in Settings. To no avail.... :badpc: | R.M. (561) | |
2005-08-28 21:30:00 | What sort of cable are you using to connect the capture card to the sound on your motherboard. Is it a 3.5mm stereo lead or are you using one of the CD connectors. You may want to check your recording volumes as well in your sound options in Windows Control Panel. cheers chiefnz

2005-08-28 21:38:00 | Aha. Did this recently. Make sure your capture setting is set to LINE-IN. Have you got a sound card with 3 connectors on it? Or 5? My friend had this problem because his onboard sound with 3 connectors also had his suuround sound speakers attached. The problem didn't occur to him as he was able to hear sound. But with his sound setting on 5.1 and using the 3 connector sound it disables line in so as to support surround. I got him a 5.1 sound card and the problem went away. However thats only if you are using 5.1 - if not - just make sure the capture is on Line-in and also save the profile. Otherwise it loses the setting again when you reboot.

2005-08-28 22:32:00 | The expert's sound has to be connected internally to one of the internal audio connectors on the mobo, not externally . The 3 . 5mm (line out to line in), is for the Deluxe NOT the Expert . The Expert doesnt HAVE a line in or out on it . Only the FM/TV/S-video, and remote control inputs . Well it hasnt got line in or out on the other PC here . I use the Expert and the Deluxe on these PC's .

2005-08-28 22:35:00 | Mmmm - I'll have to check these details with the "in-house" expert when i get home . . . We used the bit of wire (with a black pastic bit on either end that came with the Capture Card kit) and attached that from the Capture Card to the motherboard . I made some changes in the Windows Control Panel (under directions of the computer knowledgeable son) . Thanks for you input - I'll report back later!

2005-08-28 22:42:00 | If u can hear the sound, if u use the Winfast PVR program from the Leadtek site When u run it, click on the config button and make sure the audio out control line and audio recording line are on AUX Or whatever audio connection, the sound for the tuner is plugged into on the mobo. And the capture audio option is ticked. And master stream is on audio.
