384221 2005-08-28 07:21:00 Hi and welcome to PressF1.

How old is the computer, if its still under warranty, have you tried taking it back to the place of purchase and telling them about the problem?

384222 2005-08-28 07:29:00 You haven't got a theme installed for XP (is this your operating system?) that has sounds associated with various actions? Also check out Control Panel > Sounds and see what sound files are associated with opening links or mouse click actions etc. Jen (38)
384223 2005-08-28 07:38:00 My speakers had an issue when it picked up noises as I moved my mouse. I would suggest you try to separate the speaker cables from your other computer cables - move it say 20cm away, and see if you still have the problem. somebody (208)
384224 2005-08-28 08:08:00 Something worth setting is the Line In sound setting, sometimes system interference can be audible due to this when not in use.

Go Start > Run > and type control mmsys.cpl and click the Advanced... button. There should be a Line In section, just tick it's Mute box to see if there is any difference.

384225 2005-08-28 23:08:00 Its not sounds from themes...I know that because the sound coming from my speakers are more staticy(Static)....not bells and chimes..... And i built my pc so there are no warrantys on the system....But i thought that the muteing my Line in might help but it didnt...Sal knows sorta whats goin on but it sounds more like a hardrive moving in my speakers...I know it sounds crazy....

If anybody has anymore tips please post them..

Thank you

384227 2005-09-01 04:05:00 Check that the microphone recording volume is not on full.

384228 2005-09-01 13:16:00 I know exactly what your talking about Twiggy :)

Do as the others have instructed and then do a Start > Run > sndvol32 and click Options menu > Properties make sure all sound channels are ticked and make sure all devices you dont need are muted on the main window - if you run through muting them one by one you might find the cause, also check if you can get updated drivers for your sound hardware and also check all your plugs are secure (prob do this first lol).

If you have onboard sound then buy a PCI sound card - I get this problem if I run sound output from my laptop (with AC97) into a 5.1 amplified speaker set - I found no solution unfortunately.
