383885 2005-08-26 11:37:00 Under XP Pro I have set the folder view settings to details. Yet, everytime I relaunch Win Explorer, the default settings have returned. I think it's icons.
I have used the Apply to all folders tab on every occasion but it just won't remember the settings. Also, when I am in a particular directory and select Apply to all folder, it will only apply them to that particular directory I am currently in but not to ANY other part of explorer.
Very frustrating.
Does anyone have some advice?

cheers,

Increase to 5000 here
windowsxp.mvps.org
support.microsoft.com
The fix page says 5000 recommended but 8000 is the max although increasing it to 8000 might give toy a performance hit on a slower machine
I also see this was fixed in SP2 something I didn't know
Do you have SP2 installed?

383887 2005-08-26 12:15:00 Thank dude, I knew about that one from a while ago, but thanks for reminding me. It didn't do the trick however.
I just cleaned out 3 nasty viruses, s0s.exe, havana.exe and another one, these probably mean nothing to you, but these pests may have been responsible for me not being able to change the settings. I've cleaned out the viruses good I think. I've ran kaspersky, avast and NOD and installed zonealarm pro. the virus may be gone, but i still can't get explorer to save folder settings.
just thought u should know. if u still got any more recommendations then shoot for the stars.
