384920 2005-08-31 05:51:00 I've an old PII machine with 128 MB RAM and would like to experiment this with Linux. Can I install Linux on this old machine? C

Is there any "Free" Linux where I can download it?

Your views and recommendations, please.

Cheers

384921 2005-08-31 05:58:00 It will probably be best to stick with one of the older, less "improved" versions. Mandrake 9 should be reasonably usable. I run RedHat 9 on a Compaq with 96MB. (I run Slackware with a 2.0.6 kernel on a 386sx20 with 6MB of memory,, but perhaps you don't want to go that far.). Graham L (2)

Most linux distros are free. There are quite a few sites that list all the different distros - just google for "linux distros"

384925 2005-08-31 09:23:00 A friend of mine happens to have SuSE Linux 7.0. Is this OK, or too old?
