2005-08-31 05:00:00 | Hi people im looking at buying a new LCD monitor, have kinda narrowed my options done to 2 this one (www.etccomputers.co.nz) and this one (etccomputers.co.nz). This would be my first LCD monitor and it would be mainly used for gaming. Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated. So which one would you choose ?? :) | Overdrive_5000 (4950) | |
2005-08-31 05:05:00 | I simply would not buy an LCD monitor without a zero bright pixel warranty, which only the Philips appears to have. | godfather (25) | |
2005-08-31 05:07:00 | Definately the Phillips from your options posted - other good brands are Samsung and ViewSonic | HadO (796) | |
2005-08-31 05:11:00 | thats what I thought but i noticed the other one can display 16.7 million colours where as the philips can only display 16.2 will that be a noticable difference ? | Overdrive_5000 (4950) | |
2005-08-31 05:14:00 | Probably just a typo - both will be able to do 32bit colour. | HadO (796) | |
2005-08-31 05:31:00 | And you are going to count the number of different colours? "I want my money back: it only displays 16,699,999 colours". | Graham L (2) | |
2005-08-31 05:34:00 | Well no, but I was wondering if the difference in colours would be noticeable to the human eye ? | Overdrive_5000 (4950) | |
2005-08-31 05:44:00 | I doubt it unless it's a superhuman eye. In fact, it would take a pretty good measuring instrument to tell a difference. The colours shown by two "identical" monitors would differ by more than that. However, it's 24 bit colour, not 32. 8 bits for each of R, G, B. The decimal number of different colours will be "something over 16 million". (I can never be bothered to look up or work out the exact conversion unless it matters.) | Graham L (2) | |
2005-08-31 08:14:00 | I bought the Phillips 170B6 about a month ago. My first LCD....can't fault it.....Mrs brig will order her one next month :-)
