384726 2005-08-31 00:25:00 Ok I appoligize about all the threads but I was getting bits from every were . . . .

let mestart from the begining . . . I baught my computer in 2003 to play Star wars Galaxies . . . this is what it is

cpu; type AMD duron 1300mhz (13x100)
Motherboard name; Pcchips m810dlu (2pci 1cnr 2ddr dimm
motherboard chipset;sis 740
system memory 480mb pc 2700ddr sdram
bios type; ami (06/16/03)

my monitor is a
monitor name astvision 7u
monitor id is 1db3
monitor type 17"

I baught a radeon 7000 graphic card and it seemed to work fine display was good my game ran fine and there were no problems .

I had a infection in the comp and I reformated the disk and reinstalled windows xp . The graphic card was working fine .

Recently the picture is garbled and pixalated . So when this happens I have to restart my computer and the displayis fine for a while then it craps out again .

On the motherboardI have a generic display adapter . I took out the radeon and tried my monitor on this adapter SAME COMPUTER and it works fine .

so I reinstalled my radeon with a older catylst and it worked for a little longer than usual . but then crapped again . I did have the generic adapter disabled .

so I emailed ati and gave them some screen shots and this is when they sent me this message

Usually, graphical glitches like this are a sign that your card malfunctioning . You may want to make sure that your chipset drivers are up to date as well, and you have enough power supply running to your card . You may even want to try an older set of Catalyst drivers to see if this remedies the problem/ If they still persist, then you can send the card to us for RMA service/replacement by filling out the form found on our site . .

So I went on the forums asking how I could go about checking to do this . Updateing chipsets and so on .

The last thing I was wondering is I seen the box and it says the radeon will support direct x 7 and direct x 8 I have 9 could that be the problem . . . .

everything ran fine a year ago when I didnt have all these updates . . . .

so I am alittle unsure how to go about fixing this . . . .

oh one last thing when I went in to display properties and i was running tests . . you know to identify with the number 1 that pops up on the screen . . . well I did that and It crapped out . . . so I hit the the 1 over and over again and it kept getting worse and worse . . . .

I hope tis helps more and again sorry about all the threads

384727 2005-08-31 02:43:00 Could be a sign that the card is overheating.
Saw a similar problem with a few Leadtek TI-4200 8x AGP cards about 12 months ago.
Even though they had a decent heatsink fan on them they still got VERY hot.
Check that your heatsink fan is sitting correctly and hasn't come loose.
Check that the fan is actually going if your card has a fan.
