384795 2005-08-31 00:22:00 Hello to you all

I want to upgrade the HDD and have a clean reinstall of the OS(after 2.5 years working with it). Is there anywhere the whole lot of win updates and fixes available as one parcel. I have win 200 sp4 and just wonder if the rest could be done as one lot??

For any suggestions many thanks in advance.

384797 2005-08-31 01:45:00 Don't get / install Rollup 1 for 2K SP4.

Some people have had probs with their systems, after installing the Rollup, and MS will be redoing / re-issuing it sometime in the future.

This maybe one reason why its not on the MS site.

Info here

www.eweek.com

There's autopatcher - http://www.autopatcher.com BUT this may also include the Rollup.

384801 2005-08-31 04:35:00 Nlite lets u make up your own bootable cd, and lets u add SP's and hotfixes .

And drivers etc .

http://www . nliteos . com/

This lets u select "what" you want in the finished product .

BUT if u decide to use this with XP, MAKE SURE you don't untick the wrong options, or it will lock u out, especially with the product activation option!

384802 2005-08-31 09:40:00 Hi,
MS (nz) issued a cd-rom (free) some time ago with all updates to feb 04 which I used and seems stable.
I recently went into MS site to down load more recent up-dates which seems to have fixed the ""funnies"" that I have had recently.

"Automatic downloads" dosesnt seem to be very good. I got in via:-
start/settings/control pnl\auto updates
then clicked (at the bottom) "update from windows update site".

Let the system interogate your system and reccomend upgrade then select just the ones you want and it all happen auto matically. Mine went VERY well and fixed all my probs".

Good luck.
