| 384564 | 2005-08-29 22:23:00 | I have a very frustrating problem that developed on my ADSL (Ihug UBS) connection last night. I wonder if anyone has had anything similar, and knows how I can fix it. The symptom is that some pages do not resolve intermittently. The pages seem to be random. However if I hit F5 repeatedly they (sometimes) come up. I suspected a DNS or cache problem, but after a cache and DNS flush the symptom remains. I also tried connecting my laptop to the ADSL router (a DSE XH1149 ethernet router Link Here (www.dse.co.nz )) but it had the same problem. So I have eliminated both my main PC and the cable as the source. There doesn't seem to be any problem with the Ihug network (...some might tell you otherwise :D ) so I suppose that just leaves the router as the source of the problem. Any ideas? I could try flashing the firmware, but I'm scared of screwing it up. Maybe it's just time for a new router? :illogical Many thanks in advance! Mike |

Ihug might not report problems with their service on their web status page, but you might be having more local exchange issues. Did you give Ihug support a call about it? The other thing you can try is to reset the router back to factory defaults (most have a reset button - check your manual). :) |

I haven't actually contacted Ihug (mainly because I'm not that much of a masochist....either 15 minutes on the phone only to be fobbed off, or send an email to which I will get no response). But Ihug users are pretty quick to complain on newsgroups etc. if there's a problem, so I suspect there isn't one. I think I'll try resetting the router as you say. Although I'll copy down the settings first, otherwise I won't be able to connect to the net to find them later. (The classic Catch-22.) Mike |

| 384567 | 2005-08-30 01:08:00 | Im having the same problem since last nite...and the problem is still there today at this minute. Many pages are still not loading ps.adobe,sony,ect. I woodnt reset my router yet as ihug does this quite often (problems) Dont even bother calling them as u`ll be all day on hold. I guess we just have to wait till they fix this problem. |
