| 385246 | 2005-09-01 10:58:00 | Sorry to be a Luddite --- but ---- recently I think I got a virus and Windows (ME) wouldnt load. After trying various things, gave up and reinstalled then ran a virus check ( a bit inconclusive) Anyway while I was on the job I made a recovery disk (floppy) in the hope I could use that to start windows if it ever happended again. My Question ----- how do you get a recovery disk to run if windows wont load ---- ie Computer is running but wont load the operating system --- but does get into f8 mode ie up to where it gives you the choice of starting in safe mode or normal or one other ---- but will go no further? Hope you can help weevies |

To get to the BIOS setup you press (on most computers) the DEL key BEFORE it gets to the Win ME splash screen. Look for boot device (usually the second screen in BIOS, Advanced BIOS settings I think its called) and change it so that the first boot device is your floppy drive. Then press F10.. it will ask if you want to save, type Y and enter It will reboot, just make sure your boot floppy is in the floppy drive |
