385223 2005-09-01 08:27:00 In Exel where your data spreads across and down the sheet thus hiding the column and lines information, there is a way to bring the headings and side info visible without having to scroll up and down to see what you are doing. I have forgotten how this is done and don't know what to ask for in the help department. heaton (3697)

385225 2005-09-01 08:33:00 Its called Freeze Panes or alternatively Split Window. Select the cell underneath where you want to freeze panes (eg select cell A2 to freeze row 1) then select Window|Freeze Panes. Parry (5696)

This does not seem to work. I dont want to freeze just one line. I want the whole list of expense items to be viewable while I work on a column 15 columns along the line.
Using the zoom will reduce the overall view so that I can see the whole spreadsheet but then I need some magnifying specs to be able to work on the thing. There is a way to do it but I have forgotten.
Thanks for suggestions anyway.

Assuming your expense list is in column A then click on b2 then Window, Freeze pane.

This will result in Heading cells in Row1 being frozen along with the expense list in ColumnA. If your expense list is in a different column click on the next cell to the right of the column and Window, Freeze pane.

385228 2005-09-02 05:20:00 There are small grab bars at the end of the scrollbars in excel. One at the top of the up arrow on the vertical scrollbar and one at the end of the right arrow on the horrizontal scrollbar.

Grab one with your mouse pointer and drag it and see what happens. Play with it and you'll get what you want. It will give you two panes that you can scroll independantly.
