384959 2005-08-31 07:58:00 Hello
I have just installed an exterior Pleiades 3.5" USB2.0 Enclosure. The HDD is an WD 120 GB.
I have now tried to backup with Drive Image 2002 and the transfer rate is not more than 65MB/Min which in time means 5Hrs and more to backup?!
I am guessing that , either I have not pluged in the USB plug in the right place or the drivers are not quite right?
Here the specs of the machine:
Motherboard:
CPU Type Intel Pentium 4, 2400 MHz (18 x 133)

System Memory 1536 MB (DDR SDRAM)
BIOS Type Award (03/01/04)

Optical Drive CDWRITER IDE5232 (52x/32x/52x CD-RW)
SMART Hard Disks Status OK

Partitions:
C: (FAT32) 31980 MB (21339 MB free)

I: (NTFS) 20002 MB (7991 MB free)
Total Size 74.5 GB (41.3 GB free)

Would anyone be able to help me with this?

Thanks

Gion

384960 2005-08-31 10:24:00 I take it, you're using XP? And SP1 or 2 is installed?

Are there USB2 enhanced host controllers entries in device manager?

Under USB controllers entry in device manager?

Is USB 2 enabled in the BIOS, if USB2 is onboard?

384961 2005-08-31 10:27:00 USB Man (http://www.usbman.com/) is the place to go.

You don't give any info on your USB ports, does the Albatron support USB 2? Although your transfer is way less than the 12MB/sec that USB 1 supports.

You haven't plugged it into a USB hub have you?

384963 2005-08-31 10:44:00 OK looks like thats USB2 .

Is SP1 or 2 installed??? One of them have to be installed so USB2 works .

If SP1 or 2 has been installed, delete the usb controllers entry in device manager and reboot .

384965 2005-08-31 11:28:00 You may still need drivers specific to your board for USB2 - I have come across that before - even though Device Manager says Enhanced USB... pctek (84)
384966 2005-08-31 11:31:00 If you've installed SP1 or 2, deleted usb controllers, and rebooted, that should be it .

What did u set it to in the BIOS??

Full Speed or Hi-Speed? It should be on Hi-speed if this is an option .

Ah yer try installing the ide inf files . If u havent done this already .

384967 2005-08-31 11:58:00 Also the port/s you're plugging this into .

Is it on the back of the case (onboard USB ports), or front USB ports??

If front USB ports, did you connect them to USB headers on the mobo??

Does Drive image detect it? Maybe its too old?

384968 2005-08-31 18:36:00 Hi Speedy
Thanks!
At the moment I have pluged in the USB port (backside high) right beside the LAN port close to the other conections like audio, mouse, e.g.
There are more ports at the (back) bottom , wich are most likely connected to a card.
I will try this morning at the bottom ports to see if there is any change???
