1389994 2014-12-11 23:41:00 I have 2 PCs at home both running Win 7 Ult SP 1 32bit. Both are hooked up to a DSL router using cable and I want to be able to access PC A from PC B using Remote Desktop.

Did some brief google and enabled Remote Assistance. However on the Remote tab of System Properties of PC A , I don't see the Remote Desktop option that
has 3 radio buttons to choose from. I tried using mstsc and put in computer name and it doesn't connect.

Oddly PC B has the Remote Desktop option and i can enable it and access this PC via RDP from PC A

Is there something I need to enable ? I don't want to open my PC for remote access over the internet, just on my home "network"

And if i get this to work, any recommendations on how I should configure these 2 PCs to access each others data and be 'remoteable' from one to another. At some point I would like to remote access my home PC from outside so any tips would be appreciated.

without setting up complicated domains etc

1389995 2014-12-12 00:02:00 Have a read of www.sevenforums.com same problem and fix.

Other wise just use Teamviewer, the full version ( free for home use), and you can set it to restrict to LAN only connections, and when needed change to Internet access as well. :2cents:

1389997 2014-12-12 02:13:00 Dont bother with Remote Assistance.

RDC works very well from inside the network.....but
RDC isnt avail on Windows Home , ie you cant RDC onto a Win Home PC (unless thats changed in 8)
Also, sometimes you must have a Windows (login) password for it to work
RDC is safe enough, just have good Windows Login passwords & block the port on the router (port 3389)
Chances are the RDC port is blocked on the internet router anyway, ie not port forwarded to any PC

Team Viewer is a great option as well. There will be many youtube vids on how to install/setup
