1377949 2014-06-25 23:50:00 Just got back from the beach house... man oh man it was like having my legs chopped off! Literally no phone coverage, zilch TV, and *gasp* no Internet! It was like the dark ages for two weeks!

We had to have a pro installer to have a new UHF aerial installed - and when the fine fellow finished, the TV worked brilliantly, even without the Igloo box.

If you're ever down that part of the wild country and need help, contact Darryl at Beaurepairs Palmerston North... he's only slightly less than a magician.

1377950 2014-06-26 00:40:00 So what did you do until the aerial was installed? Don't tell me you - horror of horrors - talked to each other!!!

Withdrawal can be traumatising . Thankfully you managed to survive, but I can understand how upsetting that can be . :waughh:

Welcome back to the 21st century .

1377951 2014-06-26 05:33:00 You spent money to get a TV infestation ??? You must be a bit of a worry when there's a full moon. :badpc: R2x1 (4628)

You're supposed to enjoy the peace and quiet from all the TV/net and explore the outdoors and do beach things. Bit of an odd time to do a beach holiday but still.......

PCtek... it wasn't a holiday - we went down to clean the house after the tenant left, who left it in a right royal state of disrepair - rodent infected, filthy, drug residue on carpets, damaged furniture and appliances... Expected to be there for 3 days, but took us nearly two weeks to get it ship-shape.

Sounds like you needed booze more than a TV

Just wondering, is this the sort of thing that would put you off of leasing that house ?
My mother got fed up with cleaning up & fixing up after tenants & just sold her flat after a year
Perhaps this is why its supposedly so hard to find rentals in some areas?

1377955 2014-06-26 23:33:00 Your beach house sounds like the sort of place we all need to get away to now and again. Peace and quiet. Bobh (5192)

Ah . . . . well you had not time to watch TV/Browse net then anyway .
Eeewwwww . . . . . . .

My son got a rental once, the day he moved in he had to spend ages wiping down walls, removing the maggot infested pigs head from inside the black oven, wasjhing floors, repairing the toilet which had come off the floor, etc .
I managed to find some curtains for it . . . . previous tenants had done a runner . . . . some people huh .
