1377685 2014-06-23 07:30:00 On the news tonight was an account of a school boy barred from his Catholic school because he has long hair! Who the hell do these jumped up school principals think they are? A pupil's hair is a part of their body, not part of a school uniform. So long as the hair is tidy and hygienic it has nothing to do with the school. The matter has been taken to court.

All of my school years were spent dealing with dictatorial principals and teachers, nothing has changed. When my kids were at school I was on the school committees, and still had to deal with little Hitlers on the school staff.

What next? Will they control the length of pubic hair, or end up like Kenya where 'willy' inspectors went around examining people and circumcising them on the spot if not already done! My brother was managing a farm there when the inspectors arrived and inspected everyone. Fortunately for him he was circumcised already.

Same for his father.

Or, find another school.

1377687 2014-06-23 08:05:00 Agreed. This father obviously has too much money. When he was enrolled they sign up for a dress code that included hair above the shoulder. Now he doesn't like that and has complained to daddy who has rushed to court over it. Wonder what heppens wen he gets out to the big bad world and he is told by his emploter to do something or dress someway he doesn't like. Rush off to daddy?? paulw (1826)
1377688 2014-06-23 08:12:00 My son had long hair when he was in his final year at Ruapehu College, he tied it back, no problem. What is the matter with guys having long hair? Does it make any difference to their academic performance? Daughter had long hair as well, and me too! What is it with guys who dictate other peoples' hair length?!!! Do they say the same about girls with short hair? Baah I say! Let him keep it......

1377689 2014-06-23 08:22:00 It is not really about the hair it is about the schools rules. They knew the rules and they should follow them, get that rule changed or go to a different school. That is life. It is ridiculous that the whole business has ended up on the news and in court. CliveM (6007)
1377690 2014-06-23 08:23:00 Dahhh, just another jumped up potential anarchist.

If he doesn’t like the rules, find another school, or join the Army and see how he gets on there.

Although I agree, I have to wonder if there are other reasons behind this. Has he been singled out while others a guilty of the same crime. Boy has been at the school for 3 and a half years with no problem with long here till now. From what I have read he is a A1 pupil, top sportsman a nd also rescued a couple of swimmers last year. The board of trustee member that suspended him, his daughter has been out on twitter abusing the boy.

i personally think schools have bigger issues to deal with then the length of a students hair, unless of course this is their biggest issue
