Looks very interesting with some nice features, but I suspect this is yet another phone we won't see outside the US - comes with a pre-installed NanoSIM, no doubt locked to AT&T.... :(

For all the different brands of phones that are a currently available, what is the benefit to the customer of having another one?

You say it gives you more choice..? (what multiple different types of phones - Android vars, iPhone, Nokia - is not enough "choice"???)

I don't think I do state that it gives me more choice, however since you bring it up, yes, I believe more choice means a better experience in the long run for a consumer - change/progress is good. I for one don't like being condescended to by a vendor who think they know what I need/want (yes, Steve Jobs and Tim Cook, I'm talking about you!)...

The ongoing development of the various OS's that brings new features to the different brands is a healthy thing and adds to the sum total of 'feature-goodness' overall, irrespective of the brand.

This phone is another Android variant, with an Amazon overlay. The Firefly feature looks a bit like Google Goggles, but points specifically to the Amazon market place, but the maps feature, Mayday, and tilt scrolling etc are definite enhancements.

The Amazon-specific features don't necessarily appeal to me, but at least they are pushing the envelope a bit (unlike a fruit-themed OS who seems to be playing catch-up, whose features with their latest release are looking more and more like Android - imitation being the sincerest form of flattery).

You are correct, you didn't mention anything about being given more choice but with another competitor releasing another phone on to the market, the comment "more choice" immediately springs to mind. :)

Something else that I have discovered regarding any sort of techology is that giving the customer "more choice" doesn't always correlate to giving them a better user experience, in the contrary, more choice usually means more customer confusion. Less choice but better design usually means happier customers.

1377545 2014-06-20 05:08:00 Price seems far too high for what it is. It also seems dated or rather 2 years too late, when compared to Android rivals. Cato (6936)
