1377238	2014-06-16 02:21:00	Just a fact of life, some countries only really work with a dictatorship. Remove the dictator & the country turns to crap , civil war etc. Has happened in other countries. Afghanistan will be next. Obviously the US had no realistic plans on what to do with Iraq after they won the war. Just why does the 'civilized world' insist on democracy everywhere?. Dictators keep the peace . Perhaps we should also accept that Fiji is now more stable without democracy & get rid of all the sanctions .	1101 (13337)

Best thing Iraq can do is split in 3 parts Kurds finally get their Kurdistan, The Sunnis the areas abounded by the Sunni triangle squared out a bit to get some of their out lying towns and passage to the sea. The last bit including Bagdad for the shitites. As far as the killing of Iraqi army people by the Sunni militia it sends a message to the shitites and traitorous Sunnis this what will happen to you if you fight for the corrupt national army. We used four engine bombers to send a message to Germany, Hungary and Japan in WW2 and it worked. The Sunnis freedom fighters do not have any Bombers only 4 captured UH60s.	prefect (6291)

By contrast the British and the French have built up two centuries of knowledge, the most famous being T E Lawrence (of Arabia) . Islamic societies are a pyramid based upon the family, their relatives, their neighbours, their tribe/clan, and the particular flavour of Islam to which they adhere . Sunnis, Shias, Sufis, Wahhabi (Saudi Arabia - very strict) and others . Its not very long ago that Europeans did the same . Consider the Irish troubles . Binding these different allegiances into one nation is a tough call although in the days of camels and few roads, it worked out . People simply didn't travel very far . Modern vehicles and weapons enable religious feuds to travel hundreds of kilometers .	Winston001 (3612)

1377245	2014-06-17 04:18:00	Yes I have come to believe that the west should just leave all the arab/muslim states alone. Just buy oil from them - don't invest or travel there. And don't let them immigrate. And yes it took Europe thousands of years to stop fighting and embrace democracy (and don't forget the Serbian wars) And as one of British stock I agree that the Brits and French made huge mistakes when they carved up the Ottoman Empire in nice straight lines. Give the Kurds their Kurdistan) Turkey and Iran won't like it but tough) And the British also stuffed up Nigeria.
