1377021 2014-06-12 06:46:00 As a self taught user of Microsoft Access for many years, I still struggle with the versions from 2007 onwards.

I can never find anything on the ribbon, and every small task takes me 5 or ten minutes.

Why cant they make it more intuitive ?

1377022 2014-06-12 07:25:00 If you have 2010 or later, customise it. ;) pcuser42 (130)
1377023 2014-06-12 08:00:00 So I have to spend ages customisnig it, and then no help pages will be able to help me.

I'd rather they just made it more intuitive.

1377024 2014-06-12 08:06:00 You can always use a add-in to make it look like ( and work) the same as previous versions. One for Access www.addintools.com Under the Downloads you can use select various other programs and years. ( gives a preview of what it looks like as well) Been a while since I used it myself but the site says its got a 15 day trial.

There are others that are free, but from experience dont work as well.

Other option -- adapt and learn the menus, everything is still there just may be in a different place. :)

1377025 2014-06-12 08:58:00 The ribbon is, imo, far more intuitive. It's just that you're used to where things were. inphinity (7274)
1377026 2014-06-15 01:32:00 The Ribbon is not sufficiently intuitive. If they were to add a single text field to the ribbon where you could type in a word for what you want, eg "Repair" or "Startup" or "Options" it would save a @#$%load of time for those of us that are periodically expected to work with it. Or alternatively, stop moving the damned menu items around under different headings with every release.

I still routinely use Access 2003. Definitely will not purchase a ribboned version, and will also not touch a Cloud based version.
All MS have done in the last decade is make the product progressively LESS and LESS attractive to me.

1377027 2014-06-15 02:14:00 Was using access 2013 a while back, personally found the ribbon pretty easy to use.

As someone who's used 2010 and 2013 - maybe they've changed the ribbon layout a little, but I've found 2013 nicer than 2010.

1377028 2014-06-15 20:58:00 Either use the add-in as Wainuitech says, or just keep using the old version. There is no need to upgrade to the latest anyway. pctek (84)
