1390038 2014-12-15 02:57:00 I'd go for a 270X even over that nVidia, personally... But I'm with dugimodo on the Intel CPUs 100%!
However you're then looking at doubling your investment on the GPU side.

My general rule of thumb: Spend 3x on your GPU what you spend on your CPU
I would even go this for the CPU, it'll out-perform that AMD one: www.pbtech.co.nz

However, if you're aware that you're going to have to upgrade your GPU pretty soon in order to get some good gaming, then if you "base" the other parts well enough (Bigger PSU as dugimodo mentions) then you should just need to upgrade your graphics card to get some nice 1080p gaming :)

1390039 2014-12-15 03:20:00 That's a lot of feedback which I am grateful for, but could someone give me a list of recommended parts for an entire pc with pricing that would out perform my current parts that I am looking at? If you do please try to keep it under $900 (that is without an OS and monitor) Nick_ (17324)
1390040 2014-12-15 03:26:00 Chill may be right, many of the AMD cards are better from a price/performance standpoint. I'm a little biased towards Nvidia myself. When I mentioned the chart PCtek linked my meaning was to look at where the 750Ti fits into it and to try and find a (either AMD or Nvidia) card of that level of performance or better for a good price.

A high end or medium high end card from a previous generation will still out perform a low-mid range current card in most cases, sometimes they are the same cards with new names, like R9 280 = 7970 for example.

1390041 2014-12-15 03:40:00 GT740 - too weak for 1080P gaming really. IMHO to get a worthwhile gaming experience at 1080P you should be looking at 750Ti performance or better - use the chart on toms hardware PCtek linked to see what choices you have

Is this the 750Ti that you were talking about? alphacity.co.nz

1390042 2014-12-15 03:58:00 Yep that's it. One of the good things about that particular graphics chipset is it's the most powerful card available that doesn't need extra power connectors.

I had a go on www.pp.co.nz to see what I could come up with under $900, it's a site I like to use for budget systems for the good range and service they have. I have never used alpha city but if you prefer to use them this at least gives you a Idea. I picked a R7 260X as a close match for a 750Ti at a cheaper price but I'd still try to find a 2nd hand graphics card personally.

Here's what I came up with, similar price, slightly better graphics, dual core i3 which will be better in some games and worse in others but should be at least as good on average and gives you the option of a future upgrade to i5 (this rarely happens in practice though). If you want to stick with AMD that's not going to make a lot of difference at this price point to be honest.

Thanks for that, but since my friend told me he is going to buy my HD Game Capture I can splash a little more towards my GPU, this is the graphics card I am thinking about purchasing - alphacity.co.nz

I am able to spend up to $300 at most on a graphics card so could you split it between a CPU and GPU, unless my graphics card that I have been looking at is good enough to run those games with atleast 60 fps on high settings. So maybe a $250 and $270 GPU? Let me know what you think.

1390044 2014-12-15 05:29:00 I might be in a position to offer you a graphics card for $300

Gigabyte GTX680

I am sure those I have dealt with on here will confirm my trustworthiness to deal with if you are interested.

Could you send me a link of what version it is? Because there are a few GTX680s and im not sure what one you are talking about.
