However you're then looking at doubling your investment on the GPU side. My general rule of thumb: Spend 3x on your GPU what you spend on your CPU I would even go this for the CPU, it'll out-perform that AMD one: www.pbtech.co.nz However, if you're aware that you're going to have to upgrade your GPU pretty soon in order to get some good gaming, then if you "base" the other parts well enough (Bigger PSU as dugimodo mentions) then you should just need to upgrade your graphics card to get some nice 1080p gaming :) |

| 1390040 | 2014-12-15 03:26:00 | Chill may be right, many of the AMD cards are better from a price/performance standpoint. I'm a little biased towards Nvidia myself. When I mentioned the chart PCtek linked my meaning was to look at where the 750Ti fits into it and to try and find a (either AMD or Nvidia) card of that level of performance or better for a good price. A high end or medium high end card from a previous generation will still out perform a low-mid range current card in most cases, sometimes they are the same cards with new names, like R9 280 = 7970 for example. |

| 1390042 | 2014-12-15 03:58:00 | Yep that's it. One of the good things about that particular graphics chipset is it's the most powerful card available that doesn't need extra power connectors. I had a go on www.pp.co.nz to see what I could come up with under $900, it's a site I like to use for budget systems for the good range and service they have. I have never used alpha city but if you prefer to use them this at least gives you a Idea. I picked a R7 260X as a close match for a 750Ti at a cheaper price but I'd still try to find a 2nd hand graphics card personally. Here's what I came up with, similar price, slightly better graphics, dual core i3 which will be better in some games and worse in others but should be at least as good on average and gives you the option of a future upgrade to i5 (this rarely happens in practice though). If you want to stick with AMD that's not going to make a lot of difference at this price point to be honest. So maybe a $250 and $270 GPU? Let me know what you think. |
