You can rely on that, on a par with sun rising.

1377627 2014-06-22 21:06:00 It is a thought though, that in years to come when some of these now children look back on their 'good old times' in Iraq and elsewhere, they will fondly remember collecting AK47 cartridge cases and fragments of rocket grenades. They will have never known anything different.

Todays baby boomers in the west who have not experienced such turmoil only have The Beatles and Elvis to look back upon.

1377628 2014-06-22 21:51:00 Lucky these European countries don't have a Treaty of Waitangi industry going otherwize they would be forever in court claiming all sorts of the past doings real or imaginary.. paulw (1826)
1377629 2014-06-22 22:09:00 The EU system is to pre-emptively distribute largesse at the least sign of distress . Of course, they take far more than they give, but that is merely what the system was designed to do . . . R2x1 (4628)

Border changes are not just altering lines on maps, it involves peoples, upheaval and movement of peoples, warfare, invading hoards, forced language changes, so on and so forth.

It's attachment to ideas.
Consider milling windfall trees on west coast, I am sure they should mill, but there are others that are adamant they should be left to rot.
Take current Iraq situation, all a difference of opinion, new borders wanted and we are prepared to kill for it.The endless dichotomy that cause so much unpleasantness is a mystery to me.

OMG look how the home country shrank. Look how the other home country disappeared altogether to become part of someone elses! I must rush over there and demand it be given back or compensation given for the loss of the family lands.
