1377795 2014-06-30 23:32:00 Religion is balanced; in any armed conflict recorded, each side is blessed by a senior representative of their chosen invisible friend. Can't ask for fairer than that. :) R2x1 (4628)
1377796 2014-07-01 00:45:00 Not quite. I like to think we're teaching kids how to think, not what to think. ;)
Hard to do that if you believe something and expect your children to believe same.

It's well known you can't discuss it logically with religious fanatics, you might as well try and reason with a rock.

1377799 2014-07-01 03:02:00 I have yet to meet anybody who has given up there beliefs.

I have seen them grow out of catholic beliefs, more osmosis than argument.

I think the ones with functioning brains eventually just realise that it doesn't make any sense.

Perhaps because their religion required them to put aside logical reasoned thought & substitute unquestioning belief (faith)

1377802 2014-07-01 05:48:00 Children trust their parents and up until a certain age their teachers. If these trusted Individuals tell children that religion is truth and god is real they believe it completely.
Very few people who grow up in a religious environment ever reject the concept of god completely even if they decide against practicing the religion. I call that Indoctrination.

I on the other hand never had a discussion about religion with my parents and don't even know their beliefs on the subject which I respect them for. I went to sunday school for a while because my friend did but that's about it.

I think sin and belief are two separate thing.
