| 1390240 | 2014-12-15 06:38:00 | Both my computers have Atheros AR9285 Wireless adapters & Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Ethernet adapters. Broadband is VDSL2, down speed 16 to 22 Mbps, up 9 Mbps. Steady. The problem is that even simple videos like Utube keep stopping & I have to click on the progress bar to wake it up. Both computers do the same thing, on Wireless and cable. FTP is very good. If I disconnect the Broadband and use my Skinny 3G phone as a modem, the same videos play non stop in Chrome & Fire Fox. The performance from the phone is better than the VDSL2. This only applies to videos. FTP is very slow on the phone. I have done the following: 1] Increased the buffer size in the Atheros adapter = no difference. 2] Replaced the INNBOX modem with a Dray Tek = no difference. 3] Replaced the cable to the wall socket, cleaned the socket = no difference 4] Messed about with the MTU on Windows & the modem = no difference. Anyone got any ideas? :) |

| 1390245 | 2014-12-15 20:12:00 | Gonna suggest it may well be your ISP. As many are offering more and more "unlimited" plans, we're back to the same issue with ADSL2+ where they oversubscribe their international circuits somewhat horribly. A friend on Vodafone waited 75 minutes just to watch an 11 minute video on an international sports site on Vodafone VDSL2. He came over to my place, whole thing streamed flawlessly. Post a link to the video here perhaps and your ISP? |

| 1390248 | 2014-12-15 22:01:00 | Just found a interesting site relating to this, mashable.com Where it says Video Quality Report, also on the chart allows you to see other ISP's in your area. | wainuitech (129) | ||
| 1390249 | 2014-12-15 22:18:00 | I have the same issue, occasionally youtube is unwatchable due to buffering issues . I'd bet its the ISP, although thats something they would NEVER admit to. Has anyone figured out how to decipher those youtube quality reports. It only seems to show usage , not freedom from buffering issues (?) |
