| 385854 | 2005-09-04 01:23:00 | Ive been with xtra jetstream since the start of december, on there 10gig 2mb plan. Im not on the navigate plan, so when i reach 10gigs my internet speed is meant to be reduced to dial up speed. However this has never happened to me before. Unfortuntly yesterday morning i noticed my speed was crap after going less than 100mb's over my cap. Does anyone know if xtra is now enforcing its speed cap, or are they just pissed off at me for downloading an extra 20gigs at the end of each of my internet months? cheers |

| 385855 | 2005-09-04 01:26:00 | They seem to only enforce caps occasionally - I've gone over my 3gb/month and only evern been capped once. I wonder if they have an official policy as such? |

However, I suspect they will do it as necessary. They might think it necessary to make a few examples from time to time. But if the total bandwidth gets too high you can be sure they will slow down big (over-)users. |

Yea, well i suppose what I more want to know is if anyone has had there internet speed reduced imediately after going over there cap, as happened with me. They might think it necessary to make a few examples from time to time. But if the total bandwidth gets too high you can be sure they will slow down big (over-)users. maybe i shouldnt of downloaded 30 gigs last month... |

| 385858 | 2005-09-04 03:59:00 | It seems to be quite random but I have definately noticed it has got very strict in the last few months... unfortunately... :) Bah.. its about time for a $40 a month 256k FLAT rate plan - in the true sense of the word (ie. no speed restrictions) I can dream... |

| 385859 | 2005-09-04 04:43:00 | My speed with Xtra dropped to 64kb/s yesterday and I had used just over 1.1G on a 1G plan! Today the speed is back to normal, even though it's not the end of my billing month. :illogical Anyone tried WorldXchange ? They are offering the 1G x 265kb/s for $29.95 and they only count international traffic towards to the cap. Alternatively, the have for $42.95 a 5G x 1Mbps plan, and you don't have to have toll calls with them. Seems a bit sharper than Xtra :) |

I have been capped three times. The latest is at the moment and it is for sheer spite from Telecom. My normal date for starting fresh was the 22nd with Telecom. I had Jetstream thru Telecom but had Paraise as an ISP. They rang and said I could not do that anymore and had to go one way or the other. I chose to go with Telstra and Paradise. After much hassle my line was finally transferred to Telstra and got a letter dated the 23rd Aug saying to change my details. It did not work and not only that I noticed I had been capped. Went thru the process with Telstra and after many calls and getting more annoyed I got an e-mail saying it had been done and to change my login details. Tried that and now no login at all ipso facto no internet at all. Took two days to sort out they had set my account wrong. Finally up and running but still appeared capped. Called back and done the speed tests and it showed I was capped and the guy said after checking I had used 17GB of data. I very polity asked how I could use 17GB in about an hour. He said that was the figure that Telecom gave him and that the roll over would be the 18th. I got really annoyed with this saying I should have started at 0 from the 22nd but it looks like Telecom did not reset my count because it was off their system by then. He said that there was nothing he could do except send an e-mail and someone would get back to me the next day. After waiting I called again and the DUD that answered this time said I was capped but it would change over on the 2nd of this month and go full speed. Later in the day someone else rang and said that Telecom still had my line until the next aniversary date which they said was the 18th and it would stay capped until then due to using more than 10GB. I told him all over again and he said that He could get Telecom to disconnect the port so my billing cycle would end with the but I could lose out completely if someone else was waiting for a port and was next in line. Therefore I now have to spend nearly a month at dialup speeds just because Telecom suck. I better not be getting charged for full speed or they will get even more from me. |
