386528 2005-09-06 23:37:00 I have two very similar documents compiled in Word 97, both 30 odd pages long. Is there a way that I can compare each page to see what the differences are, if any? I have spoken to someone who uses Word a lot and have been told it can't be done. All help much appreciated. KB. kbcad (1025)

Open both documents you want to compare then right click a blank part of the taskbar and select tile vertically .

Your friend has misled you. See Word help topic "Compare two copies of a document".

386533 2005-09-07 02:40:00 grep is for finding strings in a file. diff would probably be better, but it will give an exhaustive (exhausting) output. There's probably still an fc ("File Compare") command in Windows command line stuff. Graham L (2)
386534 2005-09-07 03:37:00 Thanks to everybody. I have also discovered a free programme called "Diffdoc" from Softinterface which also does the job. KB. kbcad (1025)
