386492 2005-09-06 12:41:00 Didn't come with Microsoft Word. Documents formatted with this programme cannot be opened by recipient. Is there any solution short of buying Microsft Word, is it possible to download from web? Recipient in UK and new computer user. summertime (2568)

386494 2005-09-06 13:12:00 hi

from www.microsoft.com you can download a free legal viewer for just viewing and printing the documents

As for downloading a full version it is illegal and is not condoned by me or press f1, not to be discussed here, if that was what you were implying

386495 2005-09-06 13:31:00 thanks for that information and no, I have no wish to do anything illegal, I was unaware that that is the case. Thanks for that. summertime (2568)

MS's free Word 2003 Viewer downloadable here (www.microsoft.com) .

Also, MS Word documents can be saved in various formats, some of which can be read, edited and printed in MS Wordpad, which comes free with XP Home.

386498 2005-09-06 20:08:00 Summertime, go to your local magazine shop, and check out the computing magazines. Often they will include free CD's and often on them will be programs like Open Office, that can replace Word. Just look through the mag untill you find a page listing the contents of the CD's. It saves you the hassle of downloading the program. netchicken (4843)
