| 386291 | 2005-09-05 20:24:00 | I have two ST3200822A 200 gig hard drives and I heard that I can combine the two drives into one drive with RAID, but I wanted to know if it formats the two drives making me lose all my information and if it is reliable. Thanks. |

| 386292 | 2005-09-06 06:46:00 | You could use RAID level 0 which is striping and your harddrives will be logically combined and you will also get a massive increase in hard drive read/write speed - BUT if one hard drive dies it will probably kill all your data - ie you loose everything :) Never used it - no idea on reliability - depends on the quality of the drives I think - bit of a gamble if you ask me... Also if you want to switch to RAID I think you will have to wipe your hard drives and start again with a fresh install of your operating system et al. |
