386074 2005-09-05 06:04:00 This computer is from PC Company. Reinstalled OS but could not get the sound going.

Searched Chaintech site but could not find the appropriate driver.

Can anyone help?

386075 2005-09-05 06:24:00 Does your Chaintech board have a VIA chipset? If it does, then just go here (www.viaarena.com) and grab the audio driver for your OS. You might as well get the appropriate motherboard driver as well. :)

[edit: just googled your motherboard, and it does have the VIA chipset] :)

If that doesn't have it, I have a VIA Version 1 disc that came with an old PC Company machine (Chaintec motherboard) - don't know if it has what you want on it but I would be willing to copy it for you.

386077 2005-09-05 10:59:00 Thank you all for the links and suggestions.

Downloaded and installed the C-Media CMI8738 (as detected by Everest Home) and it is producing "sweet noices" from the speakers. ;)

It's so difficult to remove the case cover of this PC Company product. :badpc:
