386381 2005-09-06 08:51:00 Hi all, hope someone can help .

I recently purchased a DI-624+ wireless router and hoped to connect it to my Xtra supplied 302G ADSL modem . I have cobbled them together and it all seems to work but not particually well .

My setup is a the 302G modem connected to the 624+ router via ethernet . My main pc (WinXP,AMD64 3200+,1GB) is connected via ethernet to the 624+ router and I have a laptop (WinXP,Centrino,512MB), pocketpc (2003) and another pc (WinXP,PII,312MB) which connect via wireless to the 624+ router .

Now, this does seem to work some of the time, but often I will loose internet access from my laptop (for example) . I can still ping the router and ping my main pc, but I can not ping the modem . I can still RDP to my main pc from which I can then connect to the internet fine . So the wireless connection seems to be fine . . . the internet connection is still up . . . but I can not access the internet from my wireless devices .

The problems I am experiencing I suspect may be due to the modem having an address of 10 . 1 . 1 . 1 while the router is 192 . 168 . 0 . 1 . The router is providing DHCP services to the clients so they all have 192 . 168 . 0 . xxx addresses too .

I am no expert in the area of networking but I expect that the modem should have a 192 . 168 . 0 . xxx address too in order to work correctly . I have tried changing the address of the modem to 192 . 168 . 0 . 2 by going to the web based setup page at 10 . 1 . 1 . 1, then LAN, then LAN Config, then changing the LAN IP Address, but as soon as I confirm this I loose connection and have to reset the modem in order to get it back . I just can not seem to change it from 10 . 1 . 1 . 1

Can anyone confirm that I am on the right track here? Or way off track, sliding down a bank and about to get run over by a truck??

Thanks in advance .
Craig :badpc:

How are you connecting the modem to the router?
Does the router have a dedicated Internet / WAN socket or are you connecting the modem to one of the 4 LAN sockets?

386383 2005-09-06 23:25:00 So you need to set the dsl-302g to have the IP of 192.168.0.2, with a subnet of 255.255.255.0.
I doubt it would complain about this. Dont forget you'd have to reload the browser window afterwards and connect to the new IP if this is the case.
Before you do that though, I would tell the DI-624 to use 192.168.0.2 as the Gateway + Primary DNS server.

See how you go from there
