386320 2005-09-06 00:36:00 Hi all,
I am running XPsp2 and i would like to know how would i change the direction of downloaded files, i have a slave connected and instead of any downloading going to OS drive, i want it to go to the slave, then i can check it for any virus, etc. before it goes into the OS drive.
thanks

386321 2005-09-06 00:47:00 Just make a folder on the slave hdd and next time u download, change the folder, you're downloading the file/s to. When the file download box comes up. Speedy Gonzales (78)

386324 2005-09-06 07:43:00 I am using Mozilla Firefox as my browser, and a computor tech had told me that 95% of his work comes from through people downloading stuff from the internet directly into their OS drive, and advised to download to another section of the same or another hard disc before unleasing it in your OS section.
The sugestion sounded good to me but i never thought to ask him how do i change the notice when it comes up on your screen, as i can't see any other option than save it to disk, unless i have missed something when the notice comes up on the screen, buggered if i can see how to change it.

CobinH, i can't understand why you are asking me the very same question i am asking help for.

thanks for your replies,
Tank

386325 2005-09-06 08:06:00 With Firefox, that is really easy to configure. Go into Preferences > Downloads and adjust accordingly. :) Jen (38)
386326 2005-09-06 14:55:00 His idea may sound alright, infact I think its a good idea to keep things tidy but unless you have an up to date resident virus sheild it dosent realy matter where you download to.

Firefox is good as you are unable to run from the net; you have to save first, if you have a half decient virus protection in place it should warn you before the file even makes it to your computer.

You can even have a folder filled with viruses but unless they are clicked on or called upon by another program they will do nothing.

386327 2005-09-06 22:58:00 Thanks Rob, for explaining it more clearer to me, i am learning and it all sounds double dutch to me at the moment, and if any advise is given to me i need step by step instructions, no shortcuts otherwise i am buggered.
I have Spydot search & destroy, AVG, Adaware and i run Trendmicro's online scanner once a week, i like to download music from those peer to peer places,
and i believe you have to be very carefull with downloadind stuff from them.
When i have downloaded a song for example, i right click them but only AVG comes up to scan not the other two as mentioned above, this is the reason i wanted to keep them seperated and make sure that they are squeeky clean before bringing therm over to the OS drive, but sounds like i don't have to.

Thanks Jen for your instructions, but where do i find " preferances > downloads" ?
thanks
