| 386271 | 2005-09-05 12:28:00 | Hi all, havent been on for a while now. but up until recently i have been experiencing some delayed latency timing when playing Counter Strike Source. Im on a 2mb connection with Xtra and usually got around 60-90 ping. Now i get an average of 150. im not sure, but does windows XP with all its hotfix's and Service pack 2 bloat my ping ?. before when i was getting a decent ping i played on a raw XP machine, no updates or service packs installed. now i get nothin but Lag after a re-install of windows. Yes scorn me if you will, but im using one of those free modems from telecom, nothin worong with it so far. My flatmate still gets decent pings on his machine. Is there something i can do to get my ping back ? i have emailed xtra and told them, and they have just referred me to some stupid part of their website which has no relivance to my problem. im going to call them tomorrow, but chances are there not going to be able to do anything. Oh and i have no spyware or virus's. its a fresh install of 3 days old. my download speed via the internet is in no way affected either, i still get full speed. if you see me playing on line, i play on the ICONZ servers as |SMR| RetardoBot, stop by, send me some abuse :D peace out. thanks. |
