386777 2005-09-08 00:22:00 How do I suppress items being automatically added to my "Network Places"? I know it can be done, but I can't remember how.

386778 2005-09-08 01:06:00 In My Network Places, click Tools | Folder Options | View and un-check
"Automatically search for network folders and printers". You can delete any unwanted shortcuts.

386779 2005-09-08 06:03:00 Johnboy, that option seems to have stopped Windows actively searching out share to add to "My network places" :) , but it still seems to be adding them if I actually connect to a network share, and I am sure that is stoppable too - any ideas? Tony (4941)

386781 2005-09-08 09:45:00 Just what I need, but yeah, it only works with XP Pro.

I know it can be done because I have done it on this PC (running XP Home), but I've totally forgotten how! :badpc:

386783 2005-09-08 12:23:00 That's the one!

I've checked this PC and the DWORD exists and is set, so that must be how I did it before - but how I found out about it I still can't remember!

Thanks for your help.
