386839 2005-09-08 05:26:00 We have Windows ME and a strange thing has happened, we have two users. We can log into one of the users no problem, however when we try and log on as the other user (the main user) the machine locks up, we do control, alt, delete and it says that Windows Explorer is not responding. We end task on that and it sits there. What is more worrying is that we can't access safe mode as the above happens.
How can I fix this. I tried to get to safe mode to see what was being loaded but I can't get into it.

386840 2005-09-08 05:31:00 Let me get this straight . . . you have ME and this is the only problem . . . you are blessed!

ME is about the most unstable platform Windows ever made . . it was just a stop-gap opsys to appease the natives until something better could be coded .

May be time for a fdisk and re-install . . . I hated ME with a passion . . . sorry for the predjudice .

man loving his puter with ME > :badpc:

Boot into safe mode as the user that has no problem. Do a virus and spyware scan. Also was something installed under the problem user? Hardware driver or software? If so remove it.
Failing all that - do a reinstall. I have to say I am not a big fan of WinME either.

386842 2005-09-08 06:08:00 Did you make both the user profiles yourselves, or is the strange thing that happened the appearance of this other profile? mark c (247)
386843 2005-09-08 07:17:00 Nope both were made by me. It just happened. I turned it on could not get into the main login, went into the other user, works no problems. Try booting into safe mode locks up. Don't know what has happened. xineohp (3165)
386844 2005-09-08 07:20:00 Maybe the Y2K warnings was only for ME..it hasn't worked well since that time. SurferJoe46 (51)
386845 2005-09-08 07:21:00 ......or before that time either. SurferJoe46 (51)
386846 2005-09-08 07:26:00 Do what pctek suggests even if you can't get into Safe Mode. mark c (247)

386848 2005-09-10 04:06:00 No . . . I'm going for broke here . . . 100% of me feels that WinME is worthy of a double flush . . . don't know if that term makes the translation into Kiwi . . but here it means it will finally go down the sanitary device after two flushes .

Besides, I had ME in my IBM ThinkPad and come to remember it . . . that is when the laptop burned down . . . . . . hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm . . no great loss . . I hated them both anyway, ME and the ThinkPad .
