| 386722 | 2005-09-07 22:08:00 | hi, I'm looking at purchasing a laptop, and one of the options I am considering is the asus W5000GA. does anyone have any experience with this model, any problems etc? from looking at the specs, my main concerns are battery life and ram expandability; everything else seems to fit what I am looking for. also an indication of what i should be lokoing to pay would be great. Naturally any suggestions for alternatives would be appreciated also - I'm after something small, reasonably quick, integrated wireless, good battery life (possibly 2nd battery in optical drive port?), usb 2.0. will be using it for work and leisure - without knowing too much about these things i guess home movie editing the most intensive task it would have to deal with. a last question - is it worth my looking at refurbished/ex demo etc models or does the risk/drop in performance outweight the cost benefits? thanks heaps for your help, Ben |

| 386724 | 2005-09-07 22:31:00 | I don't know too much about lappys but it seems expensive for the specs listed. M8 of mine just bought an Acer 3503WLMI which has similar specs but has 80GB, 512Mb and 15.4 Widescreen (man they look cool) for $1699 from Harvey Normans Once I'd 'tuned it up' and dumped all the uneccessary service, background junk etc it's as fast as hell, a very nice unit. But as I said I don't know much about lappys except that there are zillions to choose from |
