387526 2005-09-11 08:32:00 40gb HDD windows XP Home partition, keeps filling up. (not sure of partition size atm, will post later)

Is there any way to increase the size of a partition that already exists in XP?

Hi Johnd. I happen to have a Knoppix cd but have never used it. How do I get Qtparted out of it?

387532 2005-09-12 02:45:00 You don't get it out of it, you use it from it. ;) Graham L (2)
387533 2005-09-12 03:47:00 YOu cannot resize a partition with the OS in that partition working. Boot to the Knoppix CD and run Linux from the CD. YOu will find in the menu somewhere the QTParted application. You can resize by sliding the partition with your mouse as you would in Partition Magic.

As Graham says, QTParted is a Linux program, not MS Windows - so it will not run in Windows anyway.

387534 2005-09-12 05:03:00 Thanks for the info John and Graham. I'll have a go at that as time permits. worl (8599)
387535 2005-09-13 00:49:00 Surely the question to ask is why does it keep filling up. Presume you are cleaning out all the temp files and running a tidy house. See FAQ ??. Presume you have Antivirus up to date. Grandson just had an experience, had'nt updated his antivirus, running XP with 40 GB drive and the content suddenly jumped from 11 GB to 25GB, updated the antivirus and cleaned out about 14 GB of temp files.
