387329 2005-09-10 10:53:00 Hello all.

I have a sony HC30E mini Dv Digial video camera,
I wish to transfer the video off it via firewire but my pc will only sometimes pick up the connection, which it normally dropd it etc.

I am running an amd64 3000+ with 1 gig of ram, 200gig HDD and Windows XP Sp2.

I have tryed using the onboard 1394b (firewire 800) and an extra card, 1394a( firewire 400) and both provide similar outcomes.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

387330 2005-09-10 11:02:00 What program are u using for the transfer??

This may help

support.microsoft.com

You haven't configured either as a network card have you??

Coz XP detects firewire as Nics.

387331 2005-09-10 11:36:00 I was just used Windows movie Maker 2 for the transfer, but i have had other programs (ulead) on here and still had the same problems.

Iv got that patch and niether are configured as NICs
Sometimes it will connect and transfer the video but mostly wont.

Im starting to suspect my firewire cable.
