387258 2005-09-10 04:22:00 Greets all,

Im honestly not sure if I asked this before, but....

Can anything beat WMV9 for quality on smaller files?

Im talking 320x240 videos, at approx 14fps, 40kbps Audio of some sort, and approx 120kbps video.

Right now most 4 minute videos are ending up around about 7-9MB

Ive tried DivX6Converter and the frame-rate sucks.

Surely there's something else out there that'll make 2-pass encoding a breeze, and a viable alternate to WMV?!

TIA

387259 2005-09-10 05:34:00 Spent another hour surfing the 'net and found AutoGK

Tried 1.95b which I still had the installer for and it was no good, didnt like my input files

Gave the 2.16 Beta version a shot and Im loving it!

It can auto-detect the video size for ideal quality or it can be specified.
It can auto-detect the best compromise of Vid/Audio quality to meet the set Video Output Size
I can specify XviD or DivX 5 (XviD of course!)

Brilliant!

Only thing I want is to be able to use the AAC codec as opposed to mp3 and I'll be thrilled.

Does anybody know if its possible to split the audio/video, re-encode the audio to AAC (From the origional source) and then re-join both streams?

Cheers
