387568 2005-09-11 12:05:00 just got an extreme spirit chipset fan and it has a four pin connection that comes from the power supply and a 3pin connection that should connect to the motherboard.

so, do i need to hook up both connections?

387569 2005-09-11 12:17:00 I don't know about the fan you have, but I would guess hook up both, as the 3-pin mobo one is probly used for rpm sensing and the 4 pin PSU one for the fan power.

387571 2005-09-11 12:45:00 You can either use the fan only and plug it into the m/b like this (www.virtual-hideout.net)

or you can use the controller switch and hook it up like this (www.virtual-hideout.net)

Here's the whole article (www.virtual-hideout.net)
